Well, I made it to episode 30 of Sellout Central. That’s 30 weeks, 210 days. And I think I’m going to take a little break.
It’s been fun but a surprising amount of work to do — the podcast script I wrote made assembling the episodes easy, but the real work of course was in tracking down new music. Which is great on one hand as it forced me to go out and find stuff I liked, but on the other hand it’s exhausting. I got shit to do.
It was also an experiment to see what would happen if I kept at a regular podcast week after week so it was reliable. 30 weeks later, it’s clear: the audience peaked early on and has slowly declined, so I’m not feeling it’s the best use of my time. But I’ll let the episodes sit around for a while and maybe I’ll get back to it after a while.

I didn’t know you had a podcast show. Perhaps the lack of promoting after the initial promotion was why the audience declined :P

I picked it up when it came out. It’s good stuff. I discovered some interesting music from it. Also discovered that you have some f’d up taste in music sometimes. Which is great. I’m going to have to make sure I comb through the playlists and see if there’s anything I missed before it goes away.
I’d be interested in hearing about where you found some of that music if it isn’t giving away the secret sauce of what made it work…

Well, too bad for us about the break, I really enjoyed it, downloaded em all, got introduced to some new artists, for example I didn’t know about Ratatat before your podcasts, so thanks for that. Hope you continue soon, but even better if the break leads to more music from your own making.
Btw you already did the song Have Love Will Travel by The Sonics in episode 21 but it’s a good song so I understand :p

I’ll miss it too, but do what you’ve gotta do for your own sake. I’ll always be looking forward to whatever you have in store.

That’s a shame, I’ve enjoyed the show and have subscribed since day one. Does this mean we’ll be getting more Brad Sucks music?
