July demo: Waste of TV [5 MB]
This is track #7 on the little album I’ve been slowly putting demos up for. Also as a bonus experiment, there’s an album page and a tentative title for it now: Guess Who’s a Mess.
I’m not sure what else to do with that page, anyone have any ideas?
The obvious one everyone suggests to me is funding/donations or pre-orders. I’m iffy on that. Mostly I don’t want to owe anyone anything creatively (aka I may flake out). And the money I’d get isn’t going to make or break the production so it feels pointless.
So what’s left? Attention and collaboration/contributions?

I’d be down for a collab.

I like it.
It still sounds like a demo more so than some of your other recent tracks, but I reckon a little constructive criticism, some soul searching, a hint of crippling self-doubt and a nice cup of tea will transform this into a hit single.

I like it .. lots of potential, and I’ve heard songs from other artists that were not supposed to be “demos” and sounded way worse :)
As for the site : ask for user-made *promotional” videos ( as in “to promote the song, and not their stupid WoW character or their stupid sailboat ;)?

Yeah, call for user-made videos, artwork, sound fx and anything else related in some way to the album and see what happens. Could be interesting.

I agree that the album page is asking for user-made content. But so far as what you can add, I think some making-of stuff would go great in that space, plus I’m sure it’ll just flesh out over time as the album develops.

Yeah, could have some form of album art contest maybe something along the lines of your ‘Fake It’ video. You wouldn’t have to use any, but you might get a few good ones or you could combine all submission and make a collage out of them for the album cover, or just throw a few in on the lyric book thing that accompanies an album. Possibilities are endless! I like the ideas of the guys above me too.
P.S. Please add ‘Tell Me Something I Don’t Know’ to the next album, pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssssssseeeeeee braddddddddd!

Nice tune, I’m hearing the theme/concept so far. If you’re going to call the album “Guess Who’s a Mess”, maybe you could have people send in photos of themselves and put everyone’s and your photos on the cover in a sort of collage so people could ….wait for it….”Guess Who’s a Mess?”, a Where’s Waldo kinda thing. I also just woke up so it’s may be not as good as I think right now…

Nice stuff. Like it a lot on first listen, figure it’s only going to sound better with time.

Want to see if this is up Brad’s alley…Since the Demo project is ongoing, I wanted to see if Brad would do a cover of Q Lazzarus, “Goodbye Horses”. Clerks 2..Jay and Silent Bob hit the nail on the head with the Buffalo Bill dance and quite frankly the song is pretty catching! Well it’s just a request but would love to see Brad do a cover of it. The Heart and Soul cover rocked!

Brad. Come on. Ditch the guitar riff, because the vocals alone are absolutely great. You’re showing some absolute brilliance here, then you go and discount the whole endeavour with the Nirvana bit.

I love love love brad sucks but this guitar riff is so close to “smells like teen spirit” that it really throws off any attempt to listen to it.
I mean, unless you were going for that. In which case, maybe it would fit into the album

Yeah I wasn’t aware it sounded so close to Teen Spirit, but I’ll definitely be re-thinking the guitars in the final version.

I would really love to see Brad do a cover of Eye of the Tiger. I was watching Rocky III and lmfao at clubber lang and next thing I know a version of Brad came to mind.

So the similarity wasn’t intentional? I’d have to agree that the similarity really threw me off – I don’t think I could take this song seriously if this was the final version

It wasn’t intentional. I did wonder about it at one point while I was doing the demo but I thought “the chords are different, the rhythm’s different, it’s just the little chicka-chickas that remind me of Nirvana but it’s not like they invented that, didn’t they steal that from More Than a Feeling or Louie Louie”.
So I decided to let the internet tell me if it’s distracting or not. Which it is!

If there is one thing Brad Sucks does not do, it is to wear his musical influences on his sleeve. For example, in the mid 90’s I’m riding around in a car in the barrenness of Houston,TX., listening to an “alt.radio station” and Stone Temple Pilots come on. I hear them for the first time. I don’t even think, I just go “O, this sounds like R.E.M and Pearl Jam. Kinda interesting…and then after a few more listens over a week, to their credit , they just sounded like themselves.
Doesn’t matter if you are thinking, “I HATE STP”…it’s just an example that could hold true for many bands…but, again, not Brad Sucks!!! His influences are so buried so deep it’s singular and that’s why you guys love him so much, cos he’s fresh, he’s clean, he’s NEW music to your ears, Sumpthin you never quite heard before.
Nirvana was the same. A kind of indescribable pain/joy coming out in musical form. It was magic; like how chocolate makes you feel similar to how one feels when they are in love.—
And so, Brad Sucks. Cheers to his accomplishments. And praise for his existence. And while you’re at it—“Get A Room!” (That’s what my boyfriend always says when I write stuff like this. But he’s just being hyperbolic. I’m not.) JS

OK. no way to delete on these posts. who runs this site anyway? is human contact involved? it’s just really annoying when you write something sincere and all and fuck it up .So editing my last post’s three lines to : (my boyfriend always says, “Get a room!” when i write stuff like this.) thank you. i know no one cares and i am just being compulsive. the end.

Good lyrics.
not sure about the digital space invaders soudns in the middle. It seems at odds with the rocking guitar.
the chicka chicka is fine, but if it bothers you to be too much like nirvana, then change it. I can handle it, but who knows, if you try another sound or feel it could be even better.

I hear that it sounds a bit like “Smells Like Teen Spirit” but its not the same song. Somone said it kinda sounds like Nirvana meets Weezer, and I second that notion. xD But now its my favorite song and the thought of you changing it in any way rips me apart. :(
