Tonight’s my first show since the crappy Denver one in November and my first since breaking up the previous live band. As I’ve mentioned, the last band setup was super fun and a great learning experience, but I got a lot of comments/complaints that it didn’t sound much like my albums (it was a harder rock sound) and I wasn’t sure what to do about that.
After taking a break, I decided to simplify and hooked up with a local guitar wizard named Ben and I’ve been pretty happy with the sound in rehearsals. It’s the laptop doing bass/drums/noise, Ben on acoustic/electric guitar and background vocals and myself on electric guitar and vocals.
I’ve been pretty bummed out about a lot of the sound and technical issues at the last batch of shows I did, so I’m hopeful doing a show in my little hometown will be a nice baby step. We will see!
Update: It all went well technically, was a bit awkward. I’m trying not to be too demoralized.

Break a leg!
Get some sound/video if you can and if you feel like it; I’d like to see what this setup is like that you describe.

Good luck! It can be daunting to step out there and try something completely new with your art (even if it’s “new” in the sense of trying to return to the root of your style), but it can also be really rewarding. Hope it all works out!

Hey do not worry man you sound same as you always sound man…..the thing is that people get use to some of the music type like rock or jazz and they just love the style of that music type actually i love music and i know people just get use to the singing style and the yonder of that song so they always want to listen to that only and if singer do variations then they complaints……dont worry and keep rocking man..!!!!

Geez, now I find out why we broke up. It’s all my fault, really; I thought the name was “Brad Rocks”, and acted accordingly. :)
Hope to see your new setup sometime. Keep me posted and say hi to Kathy. I still intend to have that beer with you, logistical ineptitude to this point notwithstanding.
Cheers
