Hey, it’s my new website! That was a hell of a lot of work and a rough transition today but it seems to mostly be online and working. Tweaks are forthcoming.

While I was happy with most navigation aspects of the old site, I wanted something a bit sexier. I hired Rob Palmer from Branded07.com to do the design and after months of hacking on it, I’m very happy. I could bore you all with the design goals but blaghhh does anyone really care? I say no, nobody cares.

Anyway it behaves much like the old one but with an emphasis on music playing and search and looking sweet. If there are any folks out there who want the job of porting the design to my forums and maybe my MySpace, please get in touch.

Now I will go drink of a beer.

This is different for sure! It feels BIG … if that makes any sense. I still liked the old site … but maybe it will just take me some time to get used to this new goodness! Looks good though!

Nice design to my eyes. But hard to find information on the front page.

Looks fantastic. It is a little unfortunate that the left-hand side gets chopped off if the browser window isn’t big enough, but I imagine few enough people have that problem these days.

One thing… in Firefox 3 on OS X, the navigation seems to be slightly out of wack, which is pushing other elements down. A screenshot.

Lovely design, some great details happening around the place. Love the Twitter status at the top and the RSS + Facebook links on the side there.

I love the theme of it, but my one gripe seems to be the opposite of Justin’s, in that there is too much free space on the left, especially farther down the page.

I’d say it’s really nice, but you’re wasting a lot of space on the left and that’s the second most important location in a website design.
Plus, why did you put the comments on the left and the news on the right ? :)
The eyes goes from left to right, so we see comments before news. Hmm.
And what about putting the Twitter updates to white ? :p

Anyway, that’s great :) !

Hoki: Good point about the comments, that’s something that I’ve been wondering about.

I’m not sure about the wasted space thing. I think if it’s empty people will just look where the content is. And if it were cluttered up with crap, it’d just be a distraction.

I’m also aware the right-aligned aspect of the design looks a little more freaky on larger resolutions (I’m at 1280×1024 and it looks nice to me), but I have to imagine most of the web looks freaky to those guys.

Justin: that sucks and I have no way to test it. It renders fine in Safari for Windows here…

i like it, cool colour arrangement … but you are right, here on widescreen it’s kind of “strange”

“but I have to imagine most of the web looks freaky to those guys”

no, not really … most of the sites are wether centered or left alligned and it’s just like you are used to look on the left side …

but “breaking the rules” isn’t always bad ;)

anyway, nice work & nice music … keep on going brad

Hey, very cool. I think it kind of has a diner/drive in look to it with the arches, the color scheme and the big BS sign on the roof. Good luck!

Holy cr#p! I missed this post earlier, and am playing some catch-up….I actually thought for a second I was at the wrong URL. :)

Looks great. I second switching news and comments…thought I do love that comments is given so much focus, emphasizing the community, blah blah. Nice job.

Don’t listen to the nay-sayers’! I think the right justified site is original and well executed (other than the random MacOS rendering one poster mentioned). It’s just like you and your music: unique and intriguing!
I’m on one of those big “freaky” monitors and frankly I think it accentuates the design. If people can’t adjust to reading on the right perhaps they should size down their browser window until they can “live in the left” again!

I like the new theme. WordPress rules!
The only problem is in using this comment form, because all I can see is 4 white asterisks against a completely black background. It means I have to grope around with my mouse to try and find the input boxes. You might need to ask your webmaster to alter the CSS for this comment box.
Rock on Brad!
