April demo:

Model Home (demo) [5.7MB MP3]

Two things about this track:

  • It’s the first song on a concept album I’m working on. All the songs are roughed out (but incomplete) and the track order is decided. The other song I’ve released that fits on this album is Thanks for the Add (which will be track 5).
  • This is the first song I’ve done in REAPER. I’m really impressed with version 3 and I’m trying to switch to it from Cubase (more on that later). The mix isn’t great on this song but that’s not REAPER’s fault. It is a demo so I’m forcing myself not to care.

Good track, and I do agree with you, the vocals are a little bit overpowered by the music. I will blame neither you nor REAPER for this at the moment. It *is* a demo.

awesome!!! what synth is the main riff?

Really nice synth sound. Vocals aren’t great, but it definately has the electro-pop-zeitgeist style TYFTA had, and I really loved that song. The lo-fi drums are also pretty cool.

My only big complaint is that the chorus doesn’t really stand out.

Great demo.

Off topic… I wonder if some day there will be a good documentary about the creative commons work that is coming out, stuff like Brad Sucks and Star Wreck are two brilliant examples that have come out. It’d be interesting to see Brad interviewed about his work.

That small synth break (1:28) is so nasty it’s almost comical. I did laugh a little bit, actually. Loved it.

haha, that’s hilarious that you don’t know about it. I figured you guys had some deal worked out. My coworker also got your album with the new version, so it looks like it isn’t an isolated incident.

Great music, though!

I dont like it….. i know its only a demo… but could you come off even more sounding like Beck.

Come on I like your stuff for its originality not for the pop synth Beck imitation.

Other than this…. keep up the good work.

Just curious if you did any post processing on the tune once you got it out of reaper? Sounds so solid and full… just curious.

I just found your songs because of Fedora Core 10’s default Firefox bookmark for free music site Jamendo. I will be buying all your albums when I get some spare cash.

I really like this demo! Thanks for sharing it early.

They played the whole Dropping Out of School song at the beginning of a web porn “series” video! F@$k My Jeans. No credit given. I had to find this site through the lyrics alone.

Great Stuff!

One of the best Brad Sucks tracks yet! The synth riffs and sounds remind me of Ronald Jenkees bigtime. Love it!

Niiiice!…”Model Home” featured on the 2010 Ocean Rodeo Rise Venturi XPD kiteboarding kite promo video. A kickin’ tune! Can’t wait to hear it blastin’ in my ears while flying my new Ocean Rodeo kite!!!

Lovin it, demo hey? Well I can already see the video I want to make to this song…

Deep in the forest of British Columbia a pro rider enters from a distance, the giant tree trunks dwarf over him. He hits his first feature then drops.. at that exact moment of touch down… “Model home” starts and the technical riding begins!

Stoked…

Thanks for sharing wicked music/ beats… big fan.
