So I got a Wii a few days ago and it’s great of course. But I think the best part is watching other people play it for the first time. I took it over to my parents’ tonight and watching my mother beat the hell out of a boxer, well, it just about brought tears to my eyes.
If I have a complaint it’s the lack of online multiplayer. I’m pretty good at tennis now and I desire to kick international ass.

How much play do you think you will get out of it? We got one a few months ago and the novelty has worn off and we are back to PS3 and 360. It’s great for games that the controller really lends itself to, like Tiger Woods 07, but I don’t enjoy it on Zelda or other types of games that you just want to sit back and play….

I’ve been wondering about that. It’ll be interesting to see if the games make good use of the controllers, I’m assuming it’ll be really hit and miss.
We never owned a Gamecube, so my girlfriend missed out on a lot of good Nintendo games that we’ll probably pick up. So I think it’ll be okay, just gotta get some Gamecube controllers now.

Well, in fairness Zelda was really designed around the GameCube controller, and it shows. I think the Wii remote is still more intuitive than some of the weird stuff you did have to do with the Cube (shooting bows and whatnot). But the real test of the controller for that game style will be Metroid, which Nintendo claims is really about the controller.
Anyway, you can always kick it oldskool with some N64 or TurboGrafix games.
Brad, I think once Nintendo *does* start shipping multiplayer games (cough, cough), we’ll have to start a league. Pass those friend codes around!
