I mused about concerts in Second Life and it looks like my arch-nemesis Jonathan Coulton beat me to it. He’s going to be playing on the 14th at 8pm EST at Menorca (I think). I’m gonna try and be there.
I went out there to take a few snaps of the venue as my alter-ego “Brad Susenko”:
Looks pretty swanky. I’ve always wanted to play in half a dome.
Here’s the view from the stage.
Various clickable posters around. Here’s one of a Creative Commons license.
And here’s one of the Creative Commons front page.
Very neat. I still need a better computer or video card to run this thing on, but I’ll be interested to see how well the audio works.

At least your arch-nemesis admits to having stolen a lot of site ideas from you.

I saw an article on the concert the other day and am still amazed at the possibilities that the net now offers. You couldn’t have had opportunities like this five years ago. So much has changed in such a short period of time. In future there will be a lot more folks using Second Life in this way, but let’s just hope that it doesn’t get too crowded in there. :D
The question is: How long until we see the classic beatnik performers read poetry on SL or writers doing book readings for members of the website?

An opportunity?
You people are amazing, a war going on in Iraq, people dying in Darfur, and kids going to bed hungry in america, and your amazed by virtual concerts that support a room full of 20 people??? Addicted to a GAME? The graphics look worse than everquest, and that’s pretty bad.
Here’s a suggestion, log out, join an addicts recovery group, and try to enjoy the real world!
