This site’s been getting overloaded with spam bots lately, to the point it’s creating some intense load on the server. I’ve installed Bad Behavior which will hopefully redirect some of the worst offenders. If you find yourself being blocked even though you’re not a dirty spammer, feel free to email me and I’ll whitelist you. I’m looking into other alternatives that hopefully won’t lock anyone out.

The Akismet plugin has been working great for me and hasn’t blocked any of my peeps so far.

Akismet works great for not letting spam show up, but this is just the sheer number of requests from spam bots is overloading my server. Bleh.

Brad, you should be seeing few or no people “locked out.” If you do, I want to hear about it. In any event, be sure to follow the development of Bad Behavior 2.

I’m personally a big fan of Spam Karma 2. I’ve had it (and it’s predecessor) for awhile now. SInce SK2 was installed on my WP installation, I’v eonly had TWO spams get through and they were manually entered. As of right now, it’s blocked 13,393 spams.

Ah, yes, you can combine Bad Behavior with Spam Karma as well; in fact, it’s the only anti-spam plugin you can combine with SK2. And sooner or later, as the amount of spam you receive increases, you’ll have to.

#1 I love your music. Yes.
#2 Spam. (I don’t know if you’re running WordPress here but if you are ) I use John Sinteur’s Blocklists. Here’s the author’s site: http://weblog.sinteur.com/index.php?p=8106
Totally kills comment spam. Yay.
