Congrats man! It’s good to see that iTunes keeps in mind people like you as well, instead of only listing hitlists etc. Good job and I hope to see more of your work there soon :)

EVIL!!!
I have iTunes (only downloaded it b/c I had a gift certificate) and it attacked my Kazaa and P2P programs! Seriosuly! Also, my iPod is half the MP3 player my Sonic Rio was. $9.99 for the album? Are you getting a cut of this, Brad? This=really bad, or evil, or something.

I guess paying double works out if you want immediate gratification. Besides, Brad does anything but profit if you buy a copy ($5 hardly covers shipping to [mostly] other countries and a blank CD-R) so even if Brad receives a ridiculously low royalty on this, it’s essentially the same outcome. (Except Brad doesn’t have to go through the trouble of making packages) Besides, getting a burnt CD on iTunes is just flatout cool.

Brad’s album is also being sold in a music store in Glasgow and being played in a jukebox in a Scottish Hotel.
He doesn’t feel the need to tell anyone this, but I do.

CD Baby says I get 59 cents per 99 cent song, which is an awful big percentage.
I don’t seem to have any way to monitor sales that I’m aware of, so if anyone buys anything please let me know. I was going to buy something myself just to see what happens but you can’t buy from iTunes if you’re in Canada (coz of racism).

iTunes doesn’t work from the UK either, that I know of.
Pretty cool to get on there, though – your market presence has been increasing fairly fast over the last little while, what with Magnatunes, and all your press over OtI as well.
Might see you on TV yet.

How does one go about getting their music on iTunes? I run a few local bands website’s and I know they’d be happy for that kind of exposure on the web.

Sam: I’m not sure how you do it directly (though there may be a way), but I did it by putting my music on CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com) and getting into their digital distribution thing.

Brad, people (or at least one person) have been buying your stuff off of iTunes. When I first checked, the Most Popular Songs for you was empty (implying you had no purchases yet) but I just checked again and now your bestseller is Making Me Nervous, followed by Borderline. Just thought I’d let you know.

Hey Brad. Question? Did you make a deal with Apple when IDKWID got on iTunes? I’ve been trying to promote your stuff through appleinsider.com – check out the forums here:

That being said, I was wondering who makes the $ from downloads of your tunes. Seems to me that Apple is getting more into the independents and the discussion referenced above is mostly about whether or not the $ is going more toward them or the indie. Great stuff – keep up the good work!

Hey there, Rhumgod. I got my album into iTunes by having it digitally distributed by CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com).
From what CD Baby tells me, they get 64 cents off each 99 cent song download and I’ll get 59 cents of that. I have no idea what goes on with album sales. (My 12 track album seems to be listed for $9.99.)
Personally I was shocked by the 59 cents thing. That’s more than 50% going to the artist which is just damn nuts.
