Interesting interview with Liam Howlett (the guy behind The Prodigy) up on the Propellerheads site. He talks about switching from working with a studio full of gear to a laptop with Reason on it and the creative freedom that brought him.

A lot of what Reason has accomplished was previously accomplished by a program called Jeskola Buzz (www.buzzmachines.com) which, while the sequencer has a much lower resolution and there is no re-wire, has an open plugin format which can use VST synths and effects as well as home-brew stuff.
