Dirt Bag
Genre: Rock/Hip Hop
Length: 3:45
Date: 04/09/2003
Album: Brad Sucks: I Don’t Know What I’m Doing

Here’s another one of my diddly damn songs. I’m not really sure how this one turned out, but online it goes regardless of quality control. I was very pleased with myself up until about about the eight millionth listen. I hope you enjoy it.

Ah, really decent vocals. That crazy synth that starts in about halfway through diversifies the song a little, so the 4min length seems pretty reasonable.

The echoed little melody in the last 30 seconds is well done, but it doesn’t really fit the rest of the piece. Eh, maybe it’s just me.

Nice work.

I like the crazy melody at the end better than the kind of reduced tempo endings of “Quit Complaining” or “Fixing My Brain”, I don’t think saying it “doesn’t fit” is right, it’s different, sure, but isn’t that the point?

Great vocals, you sound more country than usual, “set shit on fire” is probably my favourite Bradsucks line.

Smoove.

How did you get that squishy guitar solo sound?

Scott: The heavy electric guitar sound that kicks in at 2 minutes? That’s a patch I made in my Boss GT-6.

It’s nice. I like the whole countryish beck-type vibe you’ve got going. Don’t be to afraid of mixing the vocal slightly louder in your mixes in general though. Or perhaps try and create some more space for it when eq-ing the 3k-4k range. That would bring your syllables out nicely. Just an idea. And turn up that backing vocal in the choruses. It’s wicked. Like it a lot.

perhaps I should just shut up and say that I like the tune…sorry:-)

The opening chords sound kind of like an acoustic You Know You’re Right.

another great song, like the little break at the end – but I agree with haumovie, the vocals could be mixed higher.

“The opening chords sound kind of like an acoustic You Know You’re Right.”

Yes! I thought this too, eventually, definitely something Nirvana-esque about it.

Might this be the most varied and most properly mixed song brad has sucked at? And oh, the ending is simply brilliant.

First song I’ve felt obliged to post about; I really like this one, it’s got a bunch of catchy lines. Mostly though I just want to say that the ending is perfectly wonderful. ^_^

how was the vocal done? I love the texture I imagine it was doubletracked, but what is on your voice otherwise? just reverb or some other kind of plug in. it sounds better than my doubletracked vocals when I do that technique

I love this one. First got snippets from a fourstones mix and then the real thing.
People around me already get annoyed at the frequency this one turns up in my playlists…
And they give me strange looks when I walk down the street and humm “Set Shit On Fiiiiiireeee…”

Rock on
