I have reinstalled Windows XP three times in the past 24 hours. You may think that’s a pretty awesome thing to do, but trust me, it’s not. Seriously kids: if you’re thinking about reinstalling Windows XP three times inside 24 hours, maybe you should just go do some relaxing drugs instead. I’ve heard good things about them.

I bought a new hard drive some weeks ago and wanted to use it as my main drive. Also, my Windows XP install has been falling apart and the new drivers for my sound card make it go crashy-crash. I do not know how this will turn out but I do know that it will be in darkness.

Yeah the worst is when you do something stupid like install a service pack or drivers, for no real reason, just because you think you should. Definately if it’s not broke dont fix it. I ended up fucking my computer 2 days before a big english essay was due. Not a cool thing to do. It take’s so long to get everything back just the way you like it. Need all your sound, video, remote control, game pads, mice, keyboard, desktop, CounterStrike controls, etc. Windows still needs a truly efficient way to back up your computer so you can have everything the way you like it when you reinstall. Somehow i think im dreaming.

I think someone once told me about a program called Ghost that allowed you to basically back up a snapshot of your setup to another hard drive. The dream was that you’d be able to set up everything exactly 100% the way you want it and then as soon as your system started going to hell, you just restore it.

Windows XP also has “system restore points” which promise that kind of thing as well, but I’m skeptical. I’ve made a bunch though and we’ll see.

Yeah those system restore points dont really work for me. But maybe some people find them useful. I find if i fuck up my comp it’s beyond repair with a simple system restore.
